What You Should Know About COVID-19

Information from the CDC

Know How it Spreads:

  • The virus is mostly spread from person to person contact through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes

How to Protect Yourself

  • Wash hands often with soap and water for at least for 20 seconds, especially if you have been in a crowded public place
  • Use hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol if soap and water is not available. Cover all surfaces of your hand and rub until your hands feel dry.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick and distance yourself if COVID-19 is spreading in your community

How to Protect Others

  • Stay home if you are sick
  • Cover sneezes and coughs and dispose of used tissues in the garbage
  • Wear a face mask if you are sick or caring for a sick person
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces

What to do if you are sick

  • Stay home except to get medical care
  • Separate yourself from others in your home, this is known as “home isolation”
  • Call ahead to your doctor so they can protect themselves and others in the office
  • Do not share items such as dishes, drinking glasses, cups, eating utensils, towels, or bedding with other people in your home
  • Monitor your symptoms, such as frequent temperature checks
  • Seek medical care right away if your illness gets worse, such as trouble breathing
